August 16, 2010Sales of new motor vehicles decreased in five of the eight states or territories for July when compared to June.
As reported by the
ABS today, Tasmania recorded the largest percentage decrease of 5 percent, followed by Queensland (4.4 percent) and South Australia (3.6 percent).
The largest percentage increase for new motor vehicle sales occurred in the Northern Territory (7.8 percent) and Western Australia (3.7 percent).
Nationally, the July seasonally adjusted estimate for new motor vehicle sales (85,019) decreased by 2.6 percent when compared to June.
When comparing seasonally adjusted estimates for July to June, sales decreased for passenger vehicles (4.3 percent) and other vehicles (4.2 percent), while sports utility vehicles increased by 3.2 percent.
