July 29, 2010Jetstar has further bolstered its flight capacity between New Zealand and Queensland by announcing a new Auckland-Cairns service.
Commencing from April 2011, the three times per week service will add more than 500 seats into the Tropical North.
Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor says this represents a welcome 47 percent increase in international seat capacity and will “certainly” help to increase visits.
"April is a good time to commence the route as it's the middle of Autumn - just when it's starting to get cold in New Zealand, our warmer weather will draw New Zealanders up north,” Lawlor says.
This week’s route update follows the new Queenstown to Gold Coast service announced
earlier this month, which is set to commence from December 17.
"This service will contribute over 350 seats to the Gold Coast's international capacity from New Zealand each week," Lawlor says.
