BDO has announced the appointment of a new partner to its corporate and international tax group.
Experienced corporate tax adviser Larras Moore (pictured) has joined the Brisbane arm of the world’s fifth-largest international accounting and consulting group.
Amid a growing focus on resources industry tax issues, Moore will provide for the benefit of BDO’s resources and other corporate clients his more than 18 years’ experience in Australia and internationally.
This includes seven years in corporate tax roles for Xstrata, Rio Tinto and Woolworths, and four years in the United States.
In his previous role as a tax manager with Rio Tinto, he was responsible for the taxation matters of its energy portfolio in Australia including coal and uranium, as well as being responsible for the tax reporting obligations of its aluminium division in Australia.
Moore has in-depth knowledge of financing, corporate tax consulting, tax effect accounting, mergers and acquisitions and their implications at both joint venture and listed entity levels.
BDO (Queensland) Managing Partner, Tony Schiffmann, says the new appointment further strengthens the firm’s ability to satisfy its growing client base in Queensland.
“Larras is ideally placed to manage tax issues for our clients due to his extensive knowledge of the business drivers of the tax function within an organisation,” Schiffmann says.
“In the wake of the release of the Henry Taxation Review, clients are seeking expert advice on the implications of taxation reform on their businesses and Larras’ experience both in-house and as a consultant gives him an intimate understanding of their needs,” he says.
