Eagle Boys Pizza will open a record 50 new stores across Australia this year, as part of a $20 million expansion strategy which will cement the company’s position as the country’s second largest pizza maker

It comes as Eagle Boys today opened its 300th store, located at Ryde, Sydney.

During the past three years, Eagle Boys has opened 108 stores across the country and was recently named a BRW Fast Franchise.

The new expansion strategy will see Eagle Boys grow its store numbers by more than 17 percent in 2010.

Half of the 50 new stores will be concentrated in Sydney and Adelaide.

Eagle Boys CEO Todd Clayton (pictured) says the company’s double-digit store and sales growth is being fuelled by growing demand for better pizzas, online ordering, strong sales growth and a high level of inquiries from potential franchisees.

“During the past 12 months, our sales have climbed considerably spurred by the launch of our premium menu offering quality, tasty pizzas without the gourmet pizza price,” Clayton says.

“In recent months, we’ve also seen inquiries from potential franchisees soar. Each month we receive anywhere up to 250 individual inquiries from people wanting to join our award-winning system,” he says.

According to Clayton, the 300th store opening and new expansion strategy reinforces how Eagle Boys has surpassed Pizza Hut as the country’s second largest pizza maker.

“Eagle Boys is a home-grown pizza success story which has overtaken the world’s largest pizza brand in Australia,” he says.

Expansion

While new stores are set to open across Australia, Sydney and Adelaide remain a key focus for the business.

“We only entered the Sydney and Adelaide markets in 2008 so there are still plenty of opportunities for us in these key areas,” Clayton explains.

“Our research shows there is strong demand for our pizzas here which is why half of all the store openings planned for 2010 will be in these two cities,” he says.

“The 50-store opening target we have for this year is a record for Eagle Boys. In 2007, we opened just 34 stores and the annual number of new stores has been significantly climbing since then.”

Eagle Boys Pizza is one of Australia’s largest pizza makers and is 100 percent Australian-owned.

It operates 300 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 17 million pizzas a year.
