March 1, 2010Hospitality Training Association (HTA) CEO Phillip Charlton has been appointed as a Governor of the
Queensland Overseas Foundation (QOF), cementing his commitment to the state’s education industry.
QOF is a not-for-profit organisation sponsored by Queensland industry and supported by the Queensland Government.
It provides overseas scholarships to applicants who have completed their formal training through an Australian apprenticeship or an accredited vocational qualification.
Charlton says the scholarships are a great way to promote Queensland’s top skilled workers, while providing recipients with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skill base internationally.
“These scholarships deliver long-term benefits to Queensland industry by showcasing and fostering some of our brightest and talented people. The recipients will be given the opportunity to broaden their work outlook and skill base through intensive on-the-job training and work experience at a global level,” he says.
“These scholarships enable Queenslanders to take their skills to the world and hone their profession through study and work placements in other countries.”
The HTA is a not-for-profit organisation created by the hospitality industry to service the recruitment, training and employment needs of the industry.
It provides industry-relevant training and apprenticeships to more than 800 domestic and international students each year.
