November 13, 2009School leavers looking for an exciting career in the growing hospitality and tourism industry are being urged to apply for the 2010 Industry Scholarship Program launched this week by Brisbane-based
Hospitality Training Association (HTA).
The program provides more than $440,000 worth of sponsorships in 2010 to foster the next generation of hospitality staff and management entering the industry after graduating this year.
Commencing in January 2010, the Diploma of Hospitality Management scholarships are valued at $22,000 each and prepare students for a rewarding career in the industry.
HTA CEO Phillip Charlton says the 2010 Industry Scholarship Program promotes the hospitality and tourism industry as a career pathway for the next generation of industry staff and management.
“HTA has provided over $2.4 million in scholarship funding to school leavers and the hospitality industry since we unveiled the inaugural Industry Scholarship program in 2003,” Charlton says.
“At the completion of the one-year diploma, the scholarship recipients will have an internationally-recognised qualification which will be their passport to success,” he says.
Applicants need to address specific selection criteria, and are then interviewed by a three-person panel of industry professionals.
In addition to paid internships, the scholarships include all tuition fees, textbooks, uniforms and tools of the trade.
The scholarships will be awarded on December 10, with applications closing on November 30.
