November 5, 2009Two leading Queensland businessmen have been newly elected to the board of the State's peak tourism organisation, the
Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC).
Mantra Group CEO Bob East and
Tourism Sunshine Coast CEO Russell Mason have been revealed as the latest additions to the team.
According to QTIC CEO Daniel Gschwind, two incumbent board members, HostPlus manager of strategic partnerships Queensland Greg Holmes and Accor Hospitality regional manager Queensland Neil Scanlan, were also re-elected to the board.
“These new additions to the QTIC board combine extensive experience in the tourism and business sectors and represent the diversity of our industry,” Gschwind says.
The new and re-elected board members will join current Chairman and Cairns and Mackay Airports CEO Stephen Gregg, Deputy Chair and Beetswalkin consulting managing director Wayne Clift and board members The Falls Retreat proprietor John Atkin, Queensland Yacht Charters director Suzette Pelt and Southern Downs & Granite Belt Region chief operating officer Kim Henshaw.
“We are very fortunate that these senior industry representatives are prepared to invest their time and knowledge into working for the future of the tourism industry in Queensland,” Gschwind says.
“The new board’s priority will be to continue working across all relevant State Government agencies to ensure that private and public sector efforts to help our tourism industry meet its full economic potential are well-coordinated,” he says.
