Brisbane-based online retailer, dstore, is continuing to grow from strength to strength as it celebrates its tenth anniversary this week.

Acquired in 1999 by e-business platform developer HotShed, dstore is riding a wave of success as online shopping becomes the favoured way to purchase goods.

CEO Andrew Cooper, who took over the company in 2001, says he is proud to be celebrating the businesses 10-year birthday.

“Dstore has certainly come a long way since it launched in 1999. The original business model was quite different, and after taking over the company we introduced new software and lowered overheads which proved to be extremely successful,” he says.

Dstore currently offers consumers over 8,000 high quality products across a variety of categories, including gadgets, DVD’s and beauty products.

While web excellence remains the cornerstone of the business, dstore has exciting plans for the future, where it expects to open bricks and mortar retail stores this time next year.

Cooper says a prototype store will be set up on the Brisbane CBD fringe well before Christmas 2010.

Approximately five to six concept stores will be rolled-out across metropolitan areas, each specialising in various products lines such as jewellery and books.

To celebrate dstore’s birthday, the business is offering special discounts on selected major brands over the next ten days.
