A construction company on the Sunshine Coast took home a swag of awards at this year’s regional Master Builders Queensland Housing and Construction Awards.
Northbuild Construction Sunshine Coast achieved industry recognition at the recent awards ceremony for constructing the Gin Gin Primary Health Care Centre, the Chancellor College Performing Arts Centre, public housing units in Maroochydore and for the refurbishment of the Maryborough Court House.
Graham Boddington, Northbuild Construction’s Sunshine Coast Manager, was recognised by his peers at a gala presentation dinner at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort and the Brolga Theatre, Maryborough, attended by hundreds of industry representatives.
Boddington says he was thrilled his team’s work was appreciated by the building community.
“The entire Northbuild group are overjoyed with the result,” he says.
“The regional MBA awards are highly competitive and symbolise the best in construction throughout Australia.
“To come away from the awards with a win is a huge privilege and honour, but to come away with four is a sensational feeling and is an adequate reward for the Northbuild Construction staff involved.
“Congratulations to our project team, whose professionalism and commitment to quality and excellence has been duly acknowledged by our industry peers.
“This extremely dedicated and experienced project team was able to deliver on time and on budget.”
“These projects required high-quality organisation and development with suppliers and subcontractors.”
Boddington says the awards have fired up his team to continue to deliver on its vision.
Northbuild Construction was started 20 years ago by Paul Boddington. The company employs more than 150 staff and will this year turn over about $150 million. The Sunshine Coast office at Kunda Park, whose business focuses on Government work, employs 20 people.
The company was ranked 67th in QBR’s 2009 Queensland 400 listing of the State’s largest privately owned companies.
Stephen Robinson, Master Builders Regional Manager Sunshine Coast, says the awards are a great way for builders to get public and industry recognition, especially in these difficult economic times.
“The calibre of entrants in this year’s awards was outstanding and resulted in only the best of the best being chosen,” he says.
The award categories taken out by Northbuild Construction Sunshine Coast include:
Health and Education Facilities ($4-$15 million) category for the construction of the Gin Gin Primary Health Care Centre
Sporting and Community Services Facilities (Up to $4 million) category for the extension and refurbishment of the Maryborough Court House.
Health and Education Facilities ($4-$15 million), for the construction of the Chancellor College Performing Arts Centre, on the Sunshine Coast.
Medium Rise Multi-Residential Housing (Units/3 Story Up to $4 million) being for the construction of 24 Studio Units in Maroochydore for the Department of Housing.
These regional awards culminate in the state final in October, with winners from each region competing against other winners of the same categories for an opportunity to win at a state level.
