Brisbane-based IT firm Longhaus has secured commercialisation rights to select Queensland Government technology information offering insight into the State’s spending.

In an Australian first, the Government will inform industry of its current and potential technology spending through a range of Longhaus information products.

Minister for Public Works and Information and Communication Technology, Robert Schwarten, says Longhaus provides a comprehensive, creative and competitive approach.

“This new arrangement exemplifies the State Government's move to providing greater transparency of government information in line with the new right to information regime,” he says.

“We are confident these commercialisation arrangements will create real opportunities for forging better partnerships between industry and the State Government.”

The five-year partnership entails Longhaus providing insights into the overall spending across the Queensland Government, including key aspects of its business application and technology assets.

It will also provide strategic analysis and market forecasts based on information from individual ICT assets collected from Government departments.

Longhaus Managing Director Peter Carr says the Longhaus Baseline represents Australia's most comprehensive commercially available longitudinal ICT research on any public sector enterprise.

“Our research indicates that ICT vendors want to know about government initiatives, forward procurement plans, products used, ICT budgets and spending,” he says.

“We look forward to working closely with the Queensland Government over the next five years.”
