The practice of offering a combination of telecommunication services will be put under the microscope by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). A draft information paper on bundling was released this week after concerns the practice may breach anti-competitive principles. "Bundling provides many benefits to consumers but also risks creating a climate for anti-competitive conduct by suppliers of services", acting chairman Ross Jones says. "The ACCC has noted growing concerns that bundling may have significant implications for telecommunications markets, particularly markets for developing services such as broadband". He says the ACCC will use its information collection and monitoring powers to monitor bundling in telecommunications markets. The paper is available on the ACCC website. For an overview of broadband technologies and the opportunities available to business, get a copy of the next print edition of Queensland Business Review.
