The economy of Maryborough is expected to benefit from a $3 million injection into the economy as a result of the annual Local Government Association of Queensland conference. To fit in with the conference theme Local Government Online, the four-day proceedings will be webcast, LGAQ president Noel Playford says. The keynote speaker, Gartner Research IT expert Andrea Di Maio will address delegates, as well as Regional Services Minister Wilson Tuckey, Queensland Treasurer Terry Mackenroth, Local Government Minister Nita Cunningham, Transport Minister Steve Bredhauer and Arts and Employment Minister Matt Foley. Non-government speakers include Greening Australia CEO Carl Binning, World Vision chair David Jenkin and Winter Olympics gold medallist Stephen Bradbury. The conference will be held from Monday.
