Dr David Cousins is new director of Consumer and Business Affairs Victoria. Consumer Affairs Minister Christine Campbell says Cousins appointment is great news for Victorian consumers. "I welcome the decision by the Department of Justice to appoint Dr Cousins to this position." "He is one of the nation's leading experts in competition regulation and consumer affairs and I look forward to working with him," she says. Cousins is currently full-time commissioner with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and has more than 12 years' experience in price and competition regulation. Former positions include director of KPMG Consulting, chairman of the Price Surveillance Authority and academic at Melbourne and Monash Universities. Cousins will replace former director, Bernadette Steele. Acting director Denis Fitzgerald will continue to lead Consumer Affairs until he takes up his appointment on June 24.
