The Victorian government has made a $20,000 grant to help South Gippsland Shire Council establish a database of regional manufacturing and fabrication businesses. The Minister for State and Regional Development, John Brumby, says the online database will provide the foundation for marketing products designed to attract new investment to the region and promote existing enterprises. "This new database will build on work already undertaken by the council to strengthen the region's manufacturing sector and thereby broaden its economic base," he adds. "Potential investors will be provided with information about existing regional businesses that could supply or support their proposed ventures. "High-quality marketing products will put the business case for investing in Prom Country and will complement currently available lifestyle promotional material. "The end result should be a higher standard of living and more skilled work opportunities for the region." The Industrial Supplies Office (ISO) is an active partner in the project and will provide advice on content and focus. Government support for the project is being made available through the Council and Regional Development Body Program.
